Me as an Intern… 

My name is Viviana Beltrán. I am from Colombia with an engineering degree in information systems and experience in the financial sector.
During 2018 I decided to come to Canada and complement my work experience with a study program that could generate value for my professional future and at the same time improve my English skills. In the end, I learned not only English but also French.
Having an internship was a great opportunity. I gained hands-on education in a professional atmosphere. Over the last few weeks, I have had the good fortune of interning with the Marketing Department at Forward Consulting, a company dedicated to enhancing the work of other companies in digital media and content.
During my time at Forward Consulting, I have gained a lot of knowledge related to marketing, design and developing content.

What surprised me about my experience at Forward Consulting?

I found that the company has ambitious goals. They aimed for creating a unique experience for their clients. They provided me with a creative space, and this helped me feel that the work I did was valuable: I didn’t feel like an intern at all.
I also think that teamwork is key because it facilitated communication, and I was able to join an open and collaborative workspace. Trust allowed me to be creative, bringing something new into the group.

What was most memorable about the experience?

It was fantastic to make a meaningful contribution to Forward Consulting’s marketing department. I was involved in several projects and performed tasks related to logo design, brand identity development, content writing and market segmentation analysis, to name a few. Being able to see first-hand how a Digital Marketing Project takes off the ground and evolves was an invaluable experience.
I hope this post is helpful to anyone considering interning in the future! My advice to you is: Be receptive to feedback from your mentor, take every opportunity to learn and have fun!
